It gets dark early and it can be wet and miserable however no one can tell you what the weather is like until afterwards.

There are a number of free museums in Glasgow that you may wish to visit.

There is usually a market in St Enoch Sq although not sure what date that starts.

Edinburgh, which has a decent Christmas market is approx an hour away by train.

Stirling Castle can also be easily reached by train.

Hi

While it can be wet and miserable it can also be sunny and clear and cold - but it will certainly be much milder than you have in Thunder Bay.

Depending on when you visit Glasgow will certainly be starting to gear up for Christmas .

http://peoplemakeglasgow.com gives an idea of some of the things to do - many (like the great, free museums which William mentioned ) are open all year round but as Christmas gets nearer other events, concerts etc will be added.

www.list.co.uk is another good what's on guide (and is also pretty good for restaurant reviews)

Edinburgh is certainly worth a day trip - and their Christmas market is worth a look.

It would be a shame not to see the lovely countryside - you can take small tours such as http://www.rabbies.com or even just taking a train up to Fort William and back would let you see some great scenery.

Train to Fort William is an excellent idea and the scenery is beautiful. Agree about the weather too, it can be dull and wet but equally it can be crisp and clear and so you can enjoy wandering around Glasgow and it's attractions. The People's Palace is very interesting

Definitely a day trip to Edinburgh is worth it. If it's wet a visit to the museum in Edinburgh's Chambers Street is a great way to spend an interesting couple of hours.
