Snow was all over the place last year. This wasn't normal.

Normally only on hills. No town sure of snow. Try the Alps or Scandinavia if you want certainty.

Unless you are intending to climb mountains then nowhere in Scotland is guaranteed snow - and even then it could be patchy.

Whilst you can guarantee it in the Alps, WHERE it will be is another question as it's early in the season.

If you want snow then go to Scandinavia or the mountain resorts of North America

There will be guaranteed snow in Braehead, Glasgow at the Snow Dome, just don't take any photographs whilst there :=)

the chance of snow in Edinburgh over Christmas is pretty slim, more likely to be raining.

last year we had a LOT of snow but that was once in a generation type stuff and hopefully we do not get that sort of snowfall this year as it completly paralised the country

"Where is breahead?"

Braehead is an indoor ski slope with real snow. It's the only place you are guaranteed snow in December in Scotland except on mountain tops

Just in case a language difference has confused the answers, the comment above about Braehead was a little joke.

There is no guarantee you will see snow - anywhere in Scotland - at Christmas. The last two years there has been lots of snow in Scotland at Christmas, but on average over the past ten years, there has been very little snow.

You do realise that if there is a lot of snow it will severely hamper your ability to travel around.

Last year people were stranded for days between Glasgow and Edinburgh and getting much further north than Stirling was practically impossible.

Snow ain't all it's cracked up to be.

In 40 odd years on this planet I can probably only remember it snowing around Christmas about 10 times and having moderate to heavy snow around 4 or 5 times if that on Christmas day. Obviouslythe further north you go the more chance of snow but also the more chance of not getting there because of it.

Haim - no one can guarantee snow in Scotland.

Especially near the coast or in Edinburgh which is near the coast.

You could tray and take a train to Aviemore - this is one of scotlands ski resorts. But snow is NOT guaranteed there in December.

Scotland had a lot of snow last year, but this is not sure for this year.

Come to Edinburgh - have a good time and closer to your travel date check the following websites for a snow forecast.

You can then arrange for a train journey to the snow area.

Cairngorms mountains near aviemore is your best bet, this is the main ski resort in scotland and your best chance, snow has already fell on the cairngorms this year but did not stay. i think by december you should have snow on the cairngorms but probebly not ground level ie: aviemore.

keep your eye on the cairngorm mountain website for information, i am sure if you want snow you could take the funicular railway to the top and play in it as much as you like.
