Cairngorm funicular

We will be on a Trafalgar tour this summer with an overnight in Aviemore. If we arrive early enough in the day I would like some time in the great outdoors to appreciate the area. Is it possible to obtain transportation to Cairngorm mountain to take a ride on the funicular or would the cost and distance be prohibitive?

You can easily get a regular bus service up to the mountain and access the Funicular Railway. Not sure how much the bus is but it leaves from outside the rail station and will take about 30 minutes to get to the mountain base. The Funicular is about £10 pp. The whole trip is very scenic passing through Glenmore Forest Park and beside Loch Morlich. If you have time it may be worth getting off and doing some exploring. Rothiemurchus Visitor centre is worth a stop as well with a nice cafe, gift shop and small food hall. Loch an Eilein is beautiful but slightly off the route and a bit more difficult to get to without transport.
