Weather end of May?

We'll be in the Inverness area around the end of May. What is the weather usually like then? Just wondering what kind of clothes to pack!

Ah a weather question!!

In Scotland we wonder what the weather will be like all the time. The good thing is if you don't like the weather wait 20 minutes and it will change. I will paraphrase from Alanrow

It will be cold/warm/hot/dry/sunny/cloudy/raining/snowing/hail/foggy possibly all in the same day or even the same morning.

Here is the average weather

weather.com/outlook/…

But like a shoddy builder there is no guarantee.

Layers, bring layers and pray to the sun god for nice weather.

Excellent! Sounds just like Canada, so we should feel right at home! I'll pack my layers!

Whether the weather be fine,

Or whether the weather be not,

Whether the weather be cold,

Or whether the weather be hot,

We'll weather the weather,

Whatever the weather,

Whether we like it or not.

Says it all really ;-)

.........and please don't ask me how old I was when I learned that at school!

"There is no such thing as bad weather. There are only the wrong clothes."

These words tell you all you need to know about British weather in general (and Northern Scotland particularly).

I was in the Inverness area last week of May last year. It rained; it poured; there was sunshine; there was some wind; there was drizzle; more sunshine. But no snow (apart from what was left on the tops of the Cairngorms).

Mostly rained whilst we were inside, and stopped when we went outside. Apart from the last day, and my last opportunity to go dolphin spotting. Boat trip in horizontal rain and near-gale force winds was...invigorating, shall we say? Dolphins had more sense than I, and stayed at home.

Today, here in Perthshire it was a beautiful Spring day and temperatures into double figures in centigrade with sunshine and blue skies.

The forecast I watched tonight tells me tomorrow that the temperaturle will drop by 10 degrees and some areas will get 10cm of snow!

Layers are the way to go and be ready for anything...

How old were you when you learned that at school MistressQuickly? - Do tell!

The BBC and STV cannot seem to forecast what the weather has been like over the past 24 hours never mind anything else. Go with the layers and a light showerproof coat, and an umbrella and wellies and T shirts etc etc etc...!(Don't forget the midge repellent)
