There are two main shops in Auchterarder; a Spar and a CO-OP both of which open early and close late. the co-op is much bigger and therefore has a wider range of products. Prices in both tend to be at or close to the recommended retail price although both will have special offers/promo's.
There are some other independant outlets for fruit & veg, butcher meats and bakery products where prices are competative and quality is good.
Perth and Stirling offer a much bigger range of shops and supermarkets where the cost of your shopping basket will no doubt be less but the cost of getting there may negate any saving so you would need to do a big shop. Both towns are easily reached by public transport or local private hire taxi, one of which may even do you a deal.
Eat out options for breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas you may like to try; The Tudor or Kafe Kisa. Prices in both are reasonable and the food is good.
Dinner options are Jon & Fernandas (European) Sherry Punjab (Indian) The Glendevon Hotel, The Cairn Lodge and The Golf Club. The town also has a Chineese Take-away and two 'chip' shops one of which has a seating area.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
There is a shopping centre at Blackford on the A9 - the Tullibardine distillery has a very nice and reasonably priced cafe there. (there is also a baxters place there which in my experience is not as good).
The Allen water cafe at bridge of allen is a must visit place - excellent fish and chips and great home made italian ice cream. Famous for miles around and reasonable prices.
