Perth-Which Streets for B&B/Small Hotel Handy for Train?

Hello!

I have been doing some checking on B&B's & Guesthouse's for our trip up to Perth from Edinburgh. (We plan to use the train/bus to get there - for some adventures - and our trip back to the Airport) Could some of you tell me what are names of some streets in Perth that I should stay with to book our accomodations that will be handy for the public transportation?

I've seen some nice places but I cannot tell if they are going to be very far from the train station.

Also - are there trains from Perth over to St Andrews?

Thanks so much! :0)

Parklands Hotel is within walking distance of the train & bus station and has some good reviews. B&B's are mainly located on Dunkeld Road or on the road to Scone. Both are a bit of a walk from the train (20min poss. more) taxi is an option.

There is no train station in St Andrews so to get there by train from Perth - you need to go to Dundee and change there and get off at Leuchars where there is a bus connection into St Andrews or a bus from perth to Dundee then on to St Andrews.

There is Marshall House(3*)on Marshall Place, that is a short walk from the train station.

I stayed in the Woodlea Hotel on York Place, just opposite the library. It's about a 10 minute walk (with luggage) from the train station. I was upgraded from a single room to a double, and it was ready by 1 PM as I was an early arrival. Clean place, good breakfast and accommodating hostess.

Good luck.
