Hello and greetings from Denmark
I am writing this time just to tell that I finally visited Foula last week!
I think that the trip (two hours by motor-boat each way) was a very strong experience.
Before disembarking we sailed around the isle with one person who lives there. He told us a lot of useful things but at the end of the day, you have to see it by yourself it to understand how impressing this island is.
Foula is very surreal with abandoned houses and cars and machines that probably are too expensive to remove. On the contrary there is a 500.000£ school with 5 pupils for the time being!
If you are interested in birds, sea life, life in general in a very remote place in this world, then this is a necessary addition to your trip to The Shetland Islands.
