Google Street View

Google have just launched a lot of new images taken with their Street View vehicles, and covering large parts of the Hebrides, including some surpisingly remote areas. The quality is superb, as this example of Vatersay shows. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

AFAIK, the coverage includes Skye, Mull, Lewis, Harris, the Uists, Ersikay, Barra and Vatersay, Islay, Jura, Gigha, Colonsay, Arran, Coll and Tiree. You can access it via Google Earth or via Google Maps.

Almost as wonderful as being there - enjoy!

Whoops, it seems that link doesn't take you to Vatersay - just to the Google Maps homepage. But you can find your own way to Vatersay from there - or to anywhere else on the list.
