3 days in October

My husband and I are planning to spend three nights on the Isle of Mull at the end of October. We've never been before and would appreciate any thoughts re whereabouts to stay on the island and what to do. We would like to tour about a bit, we will have our car but understand the roads are not great. We enjoy walking, sightseeing, art, craft, eating out and the odd glass of wine or two! Many thanks,

Sarah

With your own transport you are spoilt for choice as where to stay. However if you going self catering are planning on eating out you are a little more restricted. There are restaurants in Tobermory, Dervaig, Salen, Craignure, Bunessan and Fionnphort.

Most of the roads are fine but there are potholes on some of the minor routes. Go slow and you will easily see them.

What to do rather depends on your interests but Mull is an outdoor place. There is much wildlife to be seen and as many miles of walks as you can walk. There are number of arts and crafts places to be visited.

As for the odd glass or two, you will find plenty of bottles and glasses in the main villages.

Good advice above, from the man who knows! Salen is more central, but I think I'd stay in Tobermory, which has a much wider choice of accommodation and eating options.

Tobermorey would get my vote....A roads are not too bad...mainly single track with passing points...just don't rush around blind bends.

Has plenty of shops/museum to potter around in and a choice of restaurants....you can also get boat trips...as well as coastal walks
