train ride from Mallaig to Edinburgh

Train ride from Mallaig to Edinburgh is almost 7 hours, with no first class accommodation available. Is food otherwise available on the train(s).

Do you know if we have to change trains or just make stops at Ft. William and Glasgow. Would it be wise to get off the train at one of these places to get something to eat. Any help is appreciated.

You would normally need to change in Glasgow, but that is after 5 hours. The trains show in the timetable as having a trolley service for food and drink. First class wouldn't give you anything extra except a bit more space.

There's generally a fairly lengthy stop in Fort William (8 minutes upwards) so time to jump off if the trolley service doesn't appeal. Not sure what choice there would be though

The train goes to Glasgow - you change there for trains to Edinburgh. There is usually a refreshment trolley, but choice is limited and it's best to buy your food for the journey in Mallaig.

Buying before you go is better, the train does have a trolley, but its limited, and pricey (usual trolley sort of stuff)

There is small Co-op supermarket just outside Mallaig train station which you can stock up in.

Once you reach Glasgow and change your possibilities are endless.

I would caution against doing anything at Fort William, a lot of people get on, so if you get off and wander off you'll lose your seat unless its reserved, and also you have the question of baggage,
