"Must do" things on the Isle of Skye

Hi all, we've just booked a week in a cottage in Dunvegan for next May and getting excited already! Just wondering if forum users could share their "not to be missed" things to do for our first trip to Skye. We will have a car. We are not keen walkers as my husband has a knee problem, but we really enjoy great scenery and wildlife. I'm a keen photographer so ideas for the best views would be much appreciated. We'd also like to have a boat trip while we are there. Many thanks in advance for your help.

Boat trip from Elgol. Ferry to Glenelg, and see the brochs.

I think the best thing you can do is take a look at this very useful site: http://www.isleofskye.com/. Everything you need to know is on there. There are two or three set-ups which run boat trips from Elgol, and it's worth having a look at those, although it is a fair way from Dunvegan. But there are also trips from Portree and maybe elsewhere too. As for photography, almost everywhere is highly photogenic, as long as the weather is good - and you have a reasonable chance of that in May,

Have a great trip!

Visit the Talisker Distillery. Drive around the island and stop and wander around Portree.

The Quiraing - unmissable and we even saw a golden eagle!

You can drive up and park at the top for fabulous views.

We wanted to go to Raasay but ran out of time

Any boat trip where you may see whales would be worth doing IMHO. Can't recommend one but I am sure others will

Assuming you will pass by Eilean Donan Castle, my favorites and not in any order.

Dunvegan Castle

Stein Inn

Portree Harbour

Neist Point

Cullin Mts

Fly Fishing when the midges are not out

Roasted chickens at the Portree grocery store

Being overpassed by locals & single track roads

SkyeSkyns

Loch Bay Seafood

The oldest bakery on Skye in Dunvegan-cannot recall the name

All very photogenic too

Good views:

The window table in cafe arriba in Portree (if the knees can cope with some stairs)

I agree re the quiraing and driving round the north of the island.

If you can cope with some easy walking the shore path from Portree along scorrybreac is beautiful and very accessible.if not a walk round the 'lump' in Portree is short and scenic.

Agree re boat trips - both to coruisk and also from Portree bay to see sea eagles.
