Guided tours/vs public transit

Visiting Scotland in June and would like to see Skye. My question is (for anyone with experience), would you choose a 3-day tour (ie Timberbush) or take the train & ferry to skye yourself and bus it around? I assume the second option is cheaper, but would it be too much of a headache?

Places I'd like to see on Skye include the Talisker Distillery, Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, Dunvegan Castle, Duntulm Castle, etc.

Must say it would probably be better to take a guided tour, as your really need a car to get round skye.

It would be very hard, if not impossible, to get round all the places you want to see by bus in three days. The ideal solution is a hire car, but if you don't want to drive, then a coach party tour is second best.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to stick with the guided tour for simplicity's sake, and because I'm the type that wants to see alot of everything. I simply don't think my partner nor I would be qualified to drive around in a foreign country!
