Possible to do Fairy Pools and Loch Coruisk in one day?

We'll be staying in Portree. Is it possible to do both of these things in one day?

It depends on when it gets dark: you don;t say when you're visiting.

Portree - Elgol: just over an hour, the second half of the journey being on old narrow roads

Elgol boat trip: depends on how long you want ashore. There are two or three companies operation, BellaJane being one http://www.bellajane.co.uk/ So 1h 30mins would be there and back again, or you can land, walk around, and get a later boat back. You'd have to start really early to get their 9:15 trip - more likely you're aiming at the 10:45 and you'd return at 13:45

Drive to Glen Brittle via Sligachan. That's at least an hour and a half.

Fairy Pools. An hour and a half up and back, maybe longer depending on fitness, or even longer via this triangular route : www.walkhighlands.co.uk/skye/fairypools.shtml

Then from Glen Brittle back to Sligachan, and then Portree. About an hour

That's maybe 8 hours minimum, without much time to stop and without allowing for delays. But you also need to factor in lunch. Right now it doesn't get dark until 22:00 (10 pm) so maybe you can factor in dinner as well :-)

So that's a qualified yes depending on how long a day you're prepared to accept. The only time-critical factor would be the boat.

Should be no problem if you're here in summer,as detailed by Derek G.There are some nice lunch options in the area too, unless you pack a picnic.

The Cuillin View Gallery above Elgol gets good reviews for lunch and snacks, though I haven't tried it.The Blue Shed Cafe in Torrin does really excellent home baking, soups and sandwiches.I can't ever drive past it.

If you've time and it's sunny, it's worth continuing on to the end of Glen Brittle's single track road to have a stroll along the beach with its wonderful Cuillin backdrop, the Atlantic surf and the Small Isles on the horizon. The beach is nothing special in itself but the location is the thing.
