Carryon Baggage on Ryanair

Does anyone know if a handbag (purse) is considered your one allowed carryon bag on Ryanair?

You need to leave a little space (depending on the size of your handbag!) in the top of your carry-on bag and just put it in for going through security. I find that what I have to take out in a clear plastic bag tends to leave space for putting in my handbag!!

Not specific to Ryanair, security demands that you have one carryon bag, so make sure you have a bag within the limits and as the previous poster said, put your handbag inside it. If you have an 'open-topped' bag it mustn't be packed to overflowing. Leave space for anything you buy in the airport.

I also had a question about this. If one wears a fannypack, does Ryan air count this as your one carry -on bag and weigh it? One can have both in the US. Or can one wear it and carry another small bag to be weighed? I understand that they must go through security. Also, would a day -type backpack be about the right size for a carry-on? How does Ryanair measure these things? Theoretically, one could squish down the backpack, couldn't one? And is there a particular size limit for checked bags? I did read their website, but was a bit unsure.

Thanks.
