Driving from Dublin to Cork

My friends and I are taking a trip to Europe and will be renting a car and driving from Dublin to Cork one day. Are there any suggestions of must sees?

Do you intend driving down and returning in the 1 day? And also are you leaving from Dublin city centre? (The reason I ask is if you have the rental car for only 1 day, you may be only picking it up at say 9am, and need to drop it back at 6pm, or will you have it for your entire vacation?)

I would not suggest doing a return trip in 1 day, if you want to stop off at tourist sites along the way.

You can also check out www.aaroadwatch.ie for route planning.

If I assume you have a car for a few days, and are only going 1 way during the day, the trip without peak traffic and stops should take about 4 hours.

Suggested must sees - Rock of Cashel, Mitchelstown caves, Irish Stud and Japanese gardens in Kildare town.

Check out www.ireland.ie, and use the map to search for tourist sites.

here's what I found:

Lots to see in both Cork and Dublin city, and plenty of postings already on these.
