Not much for beer. Can you recommend some good Irish wines?

No. Any wines made here tend to be sold locally and are generally not the best. You will have a good selection of French and new world wines where ever you go

This is an article about David Llewellyn, who has a vineyard in Co. Dublin and is beginning to make waves on the connoisseur wine markets.

His wines sell for about €24 or so a bottle and are on sale in selected outlets in Dublin. Some of the Dublin posters may know more.

The word in the industry is that he is very good and going places fast.

Other than that, as Dougal has said, a good variety of European, South African and New World wines. Generally you will find the more commercial stuff rather than the smaller vineyards in the supermarkets and off-licences. There are specialist wine shops such as the The Wine Buff http://www.thewinebuff.com/aboutus/shops.php that will do some of the less commercial and more interesting stuff.
