Dublin to Belfast by train

Hi again!

After a couple of days in Dublin we will be heading to Belfast. Is train better than bus?

If yes, I must do something wrong. I've checked the 2 following companies and I'm unable to have any info for this trip.

Thanks for your help!

I was able to look at schedules and prices between the two cities on both of those sites. In your other post you mention your trip is in May, 2009. They wouldn't have schedules out for that far in advance.

For bus, check out www.buseireann.ie

The train timetables for 2009 are due to be launched by mid Dec 08. However, it is widely expected the timatables will remain the same. There were rumours of service cuts to the off peak services due to the high price of oil, but that seems to have gone away for now.

In fact it is expected the Dublin-Belfast service will expand to hourly from early 2010.

Train is a lot more expensive, but as with every route is quicker, more reliable, and you can have a meal/snack at your seat. Scenery is generally better, and being able to walk around etc. is the main advantage.

The buses run right throughout the night now, whereas train is mainly 6am-11pm ish.

Also check out another bus provider:
