rustic cottage west coast of Ireland?!

Hello,

We are looking for the nearly impossible! We want a 2 or 3 bed cottage to rent for a week or two but looking for something with rustic charm - really the simpler and more remote the better! Anywhere along the west coast of Ireland but very near the sea! Everything we have looked at is modern and rather chintzy! Its not until next summer so hoping we have some time! Looked at irish landmark trust. Any help or advice gratefully appreciated! Julia

Try Shamrock cottages they tend to be a little remote but generally very good. You will though have to contact them regarding next years bookings because the wont be listed as available (or occupied) as yet.

Imagine Ireland would be another site to check out.

I used Imagine Ireland to book the cottage I am staying in, I used them in January, and they have a range of cottages.

I have used Holiday rentals for when I go to Europe they have some nice cottages in Ireland.

In the meantime here are a few to whet the appetite

This one is remote. Maybe not rustic enough? You do want indoor plumbing? mayo-ireland.ie/Mayo/Towns/Belmul/Claggan.htm

Thank you so much everybody - this is going to keep me busy for a while! Yes - indoor plumbing pretty essential but don't care about other mod cons! Julia
