Suggestions on itinerary please

Hi - we are 50 year old traveling in September Here is our the route we are planning. Would love any and all advise. Also other than hotel in Dublin and B&B in Kilkenny have not made any reservations at B&B's - should we wing it? or set a firm itinerary.

Arrive Sunday am - spend the night and most of Monday in Dublin then head to Kilenny.

Monday & Tuesday Kilkenny and Wexford

Wednesday head to Cork

Thursday head up to Limerick/Shannon

Friday back to Dublin - fly back to Boston early evening.

Thanks for your help:)

Hi,

Thursday evening - maybe take in a dinner or show at Bunratty folk park - you could stay in the vicinity also.

Friday - on your drive back to Dublin, stop to visit Clonmacnoise monastic ruins:

Nice itinerary - manageable, I think.

Hello. Consider omitting Wexford, especially if you are going to leave Dublin around mid afternoon. If you go to Kilkenny from Dublin you would then have to head east to Wexford, and then head west to Cork, which would just add time and distance. By concentrating on Kilkenny you can chill when you get there, and then have the entire next day for the nice walking tour and to see Kells Priory and Jerpoint Abbey, both close to town, or just visit the Rock of Cashel, which is spectacular. Shannon does not have alot going for it, Limerick is nice enough but big, so if you want something smaller look into Ennis, a very nice town easy to walk around with nice sites to see right in town. Hope this helps, and enjoy.

Kilkenny is lovely, visit the castle of course and also the craft centre opposite.

Monday & Tuesday Kilkenny and Wexford

Wexford town or beyond?

Get the ferry from Pasaage to speed you on the road to Cork

Wednesday head to Cork

City or county?

Thursday head up to Limerick/Shannon

Head more towards Clare,as time is short

Friday back to Dublin - fly back to Boston early evening

While in Wexford we want to see the Famine Ship and Light house . Would we be better of driving to Kilkenny for only one night then on to Wexford for Tuesday night?

Get the ferry from Pasaage to speed you on the road to Cork - this sound perfect where do I find info on the ferry.

Wednesday head to Cork - City or Country? Not really sure - will take suggestions

Thursday we do plan on going to one of the banquets at a castle in Shannon (very touristy but thats what we are!)

Also - ment to say we are flying out in the early evening on Saturday.

So you have an extra day. Recommend a second night in Co. Clare (Thurs. & Fri.).

Head back to Dublin Airport on Saturday. You'll need to be at the airport 3hrs before your flight, plus another half hr to return car. But I think you'll have time for Clonmacnoise :)

Hello again. With your extra night, consider driving from Dublin to Wexford. From there you can then head to Kilkenny, which will avoid backtracking and save you time when you venture to Cork. So, Sunday night Dublin, leaving mid afternoon Monday, Mon and Tues nights in Wexford so you have time to enjoy your sites, Wed night in Kilkenny, Thur night in Cork, Fri night in Bunratty or Ennis, Sat drive back to Dublin. Something to think about.
