Ireland in July 2012

We are a family group of 4 adults and 5 children (ages 15 - 24 young adults I guess!) from Boston. We're thinking about arriving in Dublin, travelling a southwest route and departing from Shannon. Three of the young adults are in college so we are trying to keep the cost of the trip as low as possible. Appreciate suggestions you may have.

Maybe rent a self-catering house in southwest Ireland & do your own cooking, do daytrips from the house. Hostels may also be an option.

With a group that size, you may want to pre-book any B&Bs or hotels, very soon.

At that time of the year, self-catering may not be an option as they insist on weekly only bookings in July and August.

Have you thought about Youth Hostelling? Its not for everyone but some people love it. It would certainly keep costs down and there are youth hostels in some spectacular parts of the country.

BTW - They are not limited to the very young any more!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of our group are not interested in staying in hostels. We're working on our route. Once we have it I'd love some suggestions on B&Bs. Thanks!
