Its not a bad place, at all, at all. Lonely Planet!!

This is a link to the Irish Independent summary of the Lonely Planet Guide to Ireland.

Apparently our pubs are great, Dublin knows how to have fun and Cork is a panapoly (mispelling intended!!) of good things. Limerick has "welcoming locals, an intriguing castle, a lively art museum and contemporary cafe cafe culture to go with its uncompromised pubs".

And Kilkee is like the Carribean (the beach, not the temperature!!)

Its an interesting read.

I assume the author was never in the Carribean.

There are no barracuda in the waters of Killkee either. Plenty of sharks though!!

The pub we went into the last time I was over there we might as well have have big signs saying ""outsider"" on our heads. Made a change really, too be totally anonymous and that no one noticed me. Although it was probably because we went into a village pub. The one in Dungervan was a different experience.

My experience probably does NOT represent the norm and it's not something the huge majority of people will experience.

Tarry, you dont have to be a foreigner to experience that.

Most pubs have customers who are just curious. After a short while they will go back to ignoring you/me/everyone.

It was just very strange to me, that's all . We left after a couple of drinks anyway. I'm not used to it that's all :) Like I said, I know it's not the norm, and nor does it reflect negatively at any time.
