Trains leave from Connolly Station. Buses leave from Busaras, which is pretty much across the road from Connolly.
As with pretty much all Irish rail routes, apart from Dublin-Cork, there is little time advantage to taking the train.Edited: 27 March 2012, 10:36
Take the train, especially with a nine year old. Much better facilities: food, restroom, view of scenery, and room to move around.
Check with www.irishrail.ie about buying tickets ahead of time on line. Most fares are 20 euro, some even less.
Trains to Belfast leave from Connolly Station.Edited: 27 March 2012, 16:58
Although Belfast trains depart from Connolly, you can depart from Pearse St (Westland Row), on DART or any Northbound commuter train, and change at Connolly.
Its just two stops Northbound and walking distance from your accommodation.
