Authentic Ireland Tours

Has anyone had any experience with Authentic Ireland Tours.

Are there any other bus tour companies that you would suggest.

Do a search here for other posts on them.

CIE Tours have a good reputation. Do a search for them here as well.

We just took a trip to Ireland in March and used Authentic Ireland to book our trip. Normally, I book everything by myself, but having no knowledge of Ireland we sucked it up and paid the extra money for them to book everything. I have to tell you, we would have saved a bundle if we had booked it ourselves. We did a self-drive tour, not a bus. It is very easy to drive in Ireland, but it does take a long time to get places because they don't have a lot of big highways. Our hotel in Dublin (Trinity Capitol) was lovely, if noisy. We were there over St Pat's Day. We stayed at Doolin Cottages, and the owner insisted that we had to pay for utilities, but when I contacted Authentic Ireland and complained, they covered our utilitiy bill. They insisted it was in my travel documents, but since I saved them all, I was able to tell them that is wasn't. Plus they had charged us more than double the price for the facility than what it would have cost if we had self booked. However, it worked out in the end. I would read lots of forums and find out what other people liked and try to book it all myself if I were you.

We did the 8 day Wild Irish Tour with Vagabond Tours and is was fantastic! Highly recommend checking them out online. They have a really good website with many tour options and you truly go off the beaten track as they advertise. We enjoyed it immensely and hope to do it again next year.

I just returned from the Pub Tour with CIE and was ECSTATIC with how it went. We had 40 people, all Americans and from 20-80 years old. Everyone got along. The guide, Brian RIce was funny and knowlegeable and was like one of the group. Scenery was beyond what you can imagine and the stops were great. Would have preferred Galway to Westport, but we saw sooo much. Escorted tour took all the stress out of the vacation. SO worth the money!!

Taking my 80 year old mother to Ireland. thinking a guided bus tour?

i"ve never took one but was thinking with my mom it might be the way to go.

She has no special needs. we'll just have to take things a bit slower.

Looking for some input??

Consider Driftwood tours or another small less regimented type of tours, I don't know that your mum would want the mad dash of some larger tours.
