Where to stay in the southeast?

Hello!

Thanks to all your advice, I've decided to only do the southern half instead of the entire country in 12 days. :)

We will be 2 days in Dublin (staying north of the city south of the airport), then 2 days in Galway, 1 day in Doolin, 3 days in Killarney. I'm looking for a place to stay 2 days on our way back to Dublin for our return flight. Last night will be spent as close to the airport as we can (haven't made these reservations yet either...) Any ideas welcome....would like to see Waterford factory, but beyond that, no special plans.

I've heard of people "winging it", but I also realize it is a busy time of year and I'm not sure if I should try that. All other reservations are made...

We leave in 19 days! Hooray! Looking forward to meeting the friendly folks of the Emerald Isle and looking up a few relatives (in the cemeteries...)

Thanks!

How about somewhere like Youghal and mix with Irish holidaymakers.

Youghal is no longer the thriving town it once was and is much changed.

If you are going to see Waterford Crystal (no longer made in Ireland) you could press on to Carlow,a bustling town, with lots of excellent historical sites, places to eat and stay-it is an easy run up from Waterford on the motorway.

Youghal has suffered badly in the downturn. It's a pity because it had a lot going for it.

? Carlow is hardly south-east, and not really a holiday destination. And just to contradict you further Harvey :-) crystal is made in Waterford, nothing like the quantity there used be, but the crystal made and cut in the display area is by long experienced Waterford Crystal workers and is sold in the showroom.

Kilkenny is nice and central in the South East, or Lismore, Dunmore East, Dungarvan.

Harvey has twice made broad generalizations about Youghal without backing his accusations with any details in spite of requests.
