Dublin Drive

Is it possible to drive from Dublin to Dingle via the Cliffs of Moher in one day? We will be there in mid March so we will have sunlight until around 645. Too much?

AA routes suggests that the direct journey is 225 miles - which will take 4hour 30mins.

However doting this journey via cliffs of moher is 270 miles and will take 7 hours.

It is doable if you don't mind being in the car for 7 hours.

The journey would involve the trip from Dublin to Cliffs of Moher (170 miles, 3.5 hours) You could then spend 90 mins at the Cliffs before heading to Dingle - a further 100 miles which will take 3.5 hours and uses the Killimer to Tarbert Ferry.

Leaving Dublin at 9am should see you in Dingle at approx 6pm

It's possible but probably quite tiring as it's about 270 miles overall which would take circa 6-7 hours driving -excluding stops. Dublin to the Cliffs is OK at about 165 miles, much of which would be on motorway with the exception of the last 40-50 miles which is still on reasonably good roads. This section could take about 3-3.5 hours.

Progress after the Cliffs towards Dingle would be slower and you would have to factor in delays at the ferry crossing from Killimer to Tarbert. The ferry runs hourly in March.

If you were confident of getting out of Dublin early -say before 9.00am - it's doable but if you leave it later than that, it could get quite dark by the time you hit Dingle.

Yes that would be a long day. But if we made it to Dingle that night, we could do two nights there and have lots of relaxing time.
