8 days in early august-best things to do?

We are finally going on a much anticipated trip to Ireland in ealry August! What are some of the best things to see and do? We plan on self-driving and staying in B & B's.

It would depend on who "we" are and what kind of interests "we" have. There's really not a one-size-fits all answer.

What kind of research have you done so far? Are there any particular areas of the country you'd like to see?

Read the questions/answers down the right side. Go to the library and take out all the travel books on Ireland. Even go to a travel agent and ask for some brochures (you do not need to book a tour, just get some great ideas).

Some of the best things are the scenery, the museums, the pubs, the people, and the food!

Be aware the first weekend of August is a 3 day bank holiday weekend, so be sure to book your accomodations well in advance as things tend to fill up in the more popular destinations.

Puck Fair will be going on August 9-12 in Killorglin. Huge crowds come each year for the fun! Something to keep in mind while booking and touring.

Best things to do?

well, I have gone over specially for Dingle races, so that s my best thing to do in early August, but if you dont like horse racing it could well be your 'worst thing to do'.

Choose things you want to see, not what someone else tells you is best.

Glad to hear you are coming over! As the others already said, the best things to see and do in Ireland would depend on your interests. If you like sceneries, the West and the Antrim Coasts offer some of the most popular and beautiful attractions of the island. On the West Coast, I would consider worth seeing the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren National Park and the region of Connemara. Depending on how long you are staying, I would spend a day visiting the Aran Islands. Some of the highlights of the Antrim Coast are the Giant's Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Dunluce Castle. As for things to do, you have plenty of choices here in Ireland, it always depends on your interests though. You could hike, horse riding, playing golf, kayaking and so much more. Do you have an idea of the areas that you would like to visit?
