Bus Eireann

I will be using Bus Eireann when I visit Ireland April 16-24. There is a winter and summer timetable for Galway-Clifden and Clifden-Galway. Which one should I use? I don't see any dates on either timetable that define winter and summer. When I use the journey planner on the Bus Eireann website, it won't let me take a bus from Galway to Clifden on April17. It keeps giving me April 18. But both the winter and summer timetable show a 1:00pm depature. And today, I cannot get on the Bus Eireann website. Would appreciate someone's help.

I have used Bus Eireann in the past without any problem.

Try the Transport for Ireland journey planner, it is much better.

The Winter timetable will apply during your visit i.e. pages 3 & 4 of:

www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1340110589-419.pdf

Bus Éireann Summer timetables usually refer to end of June till end of August essentially coinciding with the secondary school holidays. There are a few bus routes around the country which are seasonal (Summer) only and quite a number of routes where in the Summer additional journeys operate. This has been the norm with Bus Éireann and CIÉ before them for decades.

There's a 5% discount on buying tickets online at:

http://www.buseireann.ie/

If travelling by bus extensively an Open Road pass may work out cheaper.

Would suggest e-mailing Bus Éireann regarding the 13.00 journey ex Galway; I tried the journey planner and had the same problem: info[AT]buseireann.ie (replace "[AT] with "@")

Hope you have a pleasant visit.

Thank you. I will email Bus Eireann about what looks like an error with the 13:00 departure on April17. I might try City Link this time. Their bus station is very close to the Galway bus station where Bus Eireann is located and their timetable looks good.

I think I agree with the reply below that the bus schedule is still on the winter timetable, but thanks for replying.
