How hard is to find holy wells?

I would like to know if these wells are typically very far off the beaten path? I would love to see & get a photo of one or more. We're driving our first day from Shannon to Ennis up through Corroffin and on to Lisdoonvarna before seeing The Cliffs. Do any of you locals know of wells in this area? Are there wells scattered all over the country, or are they concentrated in one particuliar area? Thanks very much. I am judging from the photos I have seen online of them they look to be very remotely located. But finding one would be such a treat.

clarelibrary.ie/eolas/…holy_wells.htm St Bridgets Well in Lisconnor is probably the best known irelandtravelkit.com/st-brigidbridgets-well-… but yes some can be really difficult to find, see my offering about Derrycrag Shrine on the same web link

Here's one but it's on the outskirts of Sligo:

The Ordnance Survey Ireland Discovery Series maps generally show wells - marked as "Holy Well" in red text with a dot showing the precise location. Some/many would be on private land though. The maps are readily available in most bookstores, tourist offices and some newsagents shops for about €8.25 or can be bought online:

Hope this may be of some help and that you have a great visit.

St Brigid's well is on the road up to the cliffs of Moher, from the Liscannor side and is well worth a visit, as one of the more elaborate wells and easy to find-on the side of the road.

Take the R477 coast road from Ballyvaughan to Lisdoonvarna and stop at Gleninagh Castle where there is the well of the holy cross.
