Ideas pls to replace Trafalgar cancelling a tour in August

Hello,

I am an Australian lady traveller (56) - had an 8 day Trafalgar coach tour organised and yesterday (13th July) they notified me that it has been cancelled. My flights are booked - Arrive Dublin 31 July and leaving 10 August. I like comfort in accommodation - B&B's etc.

I think I'd like to see Derry, Belfast, Giants' Causeway, Aran area, West Coast - Kerry, Killarney etc, Glendalough & Wicklow Mountains - want to enjoy the famous Irish hospitality.

There I was thinking my holiday was all organised. Maybe it will be a good thing and I'll find some incredibly better experiences than that tour.

I'd appreciate all comments and recommendations. What coach tours can be recommended - good wholesome Irish run tours would be wonderful. I have read about Paddywagon tours.

Please help me out here.

Thank you in advance for replying.

Paddywagon tours are great for those who can party hard and get up early the next morning. Their demographic is the 20-35 age group. They have a good product aimed at their target market.

I think another group would suit you better.

With only 8 days, I don't think Derry, Belfast, Giants' Causeway, Aran area, West Coast - Kerry, Killarney etc, Glendalough & Wicklow Mountains can all be managed.

Richard and Christine Barratt, formerly of Barratts Tours - a well thought of day tour company in Limerick - have a new company called Signature Tours. It might be worth your while e-mailing them directly and seeing how they can accommodate you. http://www.signaturetours.ie/tours/view/29

Alternatively CIE tours might be worth looking at http://www.cietours.com/world/

Fantastic, thank you Bean. I will look into your suggestions.

I'm not into partying hard. Their deluxe 6 day tour sounded pretty good and covered a fair area but would appreciate any comments from other people about this particular tour..

Maybe that tour might be more of a suitable age group for me. (No offence young ones. I think that I'd cramp your style.)

I thought with my spare few days that I could hire a car and poke around Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough myself.

Thank you again. Di

My husband and I are signed up for an 11 day Driftwood tour with Vagabond leaving Dublin on July 29. Any chance you could come in earlier? We have heard great things about their small group tours and can't wait.

One of the biggest obstacles for many Americans to just planning your own trip is driving on the left. You do not have that "hang up" so why not plan your own trip and meet locals along the way. Could be the best time ever and no HOHO bus rides.

I'd love to leave work earlier to extend my holiday but I'm pushing it already.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I researched Signature & cie tours and emailed them as well as Vagabond and Vagabond have won by responding to my email on the same day and actually giving me the options that I could do within my travel dates. So very, very helpful. I will be doing a 6 day to the Edge of the World Tour with Vagabond from the 4 AUG. Will do a couple of day trips and might even hire a car and explore the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough myself.

Eddie - I spent 7 weeks in USA last year and drove a little - really freaky driving on the other side of the road so can understand what you are saying. I'm sure that I can be a brave middle aged lady and go driving by myself .. :)

I think you will be fine, its pretty bad off the company to cancel at this short notice, but you may well find you have a better time without them, go for it!!

Whoopee !!!!

My employer said - take a few more days off !!! How about that? Going to book on the HomeTours 12 Day Giant Irish Adventure The best tour of Ireland in the world. From the north east tip to the south west of Ireland this is an epic 12 day adventure. - Options for Aran Island as well and so much more.

All I have to do is get Trafalgar to change one leg of my flight - oh how exciting !!!

Gillian - Vagabond - wow what a treasure she is - hope Vagabond appreciate her.

Thank you so much for your recommendation KenmareLisa and rsgb, looks like I'll be joining you.

Didee88, we are actually booked on the 11 day Discover Ireland tour -- July 29-Aug. 9. It's supposed to be more history and culture, with some opportunities for hiking and other activities, but less of the "adventure" type activities. (And a more comfortable vehicle for travel.) I've heard great things about all of their tours and I'm sure we will all have great trips no matter which tour we do with Vagabond.
