Ennis or Galway or other village as a base??

We are planning a two week trip. We plan to spend 2-3 nights at the end of our trip before departing from Shannon. I've seen both Ennis and Galway suggested as a base for Cliffs of Moher, Burren and Doolin and other small villages in the area. Does anyone recommend one over the other (or a completely different location) as our base? Is 2-3 nights sufficient for the sites in this area and to have enough time to just wander and soak up the villages, people and pubs.

you could stay doolin to see the cliffs and the burren...then use the other 2 days and stay in bunratty or Shannon itself....although Shannon doesn't have anything to offer as far as tourist sites it is only a few minutes from Shannon airport...you could visit bunratty, quin, killaloe, etc., from there easily.....

highly recommend the oakwood arms hotel www.oakwoodarms.com ....great rooms, staff, food, and pub.......
