viewing time clonmacnoise

For those who have visited Clonmacnoise, how much time would you suggest we set aside?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Two hours should be plenty of time to visit the site and visitor centre. There is also a coffee shop where you can get a light snack afterwards.

If you want to take the guided tour and watch the video, two hours is about right. If just having a look at it by yourself, an hour maximum is all you would need

Without going into the visitor centre it would be hard to grasp the magnitude of this ancient monastic site which was built during different phases of monasticism. The video takes about twenty minutes and is in several different languages, so you can walk around and view the exhibits in the centre while you wait for the video.

Thank you both. Two hours it is then, as I enjoy watching the video of a place to learn all I can, before setting out to explore it.
