Our trip- Slieve League to Roundstone

Well, our good weather couldn't last. Our morning was overcast and we strolled around Markree Castle's grounds for a short while. We would have done more but some of the trails were very muddy and chewed up by a vehicle. We mentioned it at the desk and the girl said that they haven't been able to catch the ATV that is doing that. Sad and frustrating. So we headed out and decided to throw our plans in the air and head to Slieve League since we were kind of close and had no real set plans for the day. It was very different up there. Rough and beautiful at the same time. It was also rainy and windy. There was a poor man trying to sell postcards and keychains. He looked pretty miserable in such weather so we bought a couple of postcards from him. After hiking around and looking at the cliffs, we started on our way to our evening destination of Roundstone. We were going to swing by Kylemore Abbey but decided to skip it as it was raining pretty hard. We did like seeing the mussel traps in the harbor and the peat that was stacked by the side of the road. We had several close encounters with sheep including several that were sleeping on the edge of the road. The Connemara was absolutely beautiful. I wish the weather had been a little better but even in the rain, it was gorgeous. We were treated to a double rainbow at one point and later another very vivid rainbow. We spent the night in Roundstone at The Island View B & B. Maurice was very friendly and our room had a great view of the harbor. We had an ok dinner at O'Dowd's. After dinner, we strolled around the harbor for a short time as the rain became heavy again.
