One Week in Ireland, Dec. 21-28

Hello all!

My husband and I (we're in our late twenties) will have a week in Ireland and we're finding it impossible to narrow locations down! We will fly into Dublin and will have a week before we have to be back in Dublin for a four-day tour of the city. So outside of there, we're not sure how to choose a few key locations. We will also need to find somewhere to stay for Christmas! Hopefully we can couch surf or stay at a BnB.

Anyway, our two main things that we're looking for are (1) the most beautiful scenery, without spending all day every day in the car, and (2) quaint little Irish towns with DELICIOUS FOOD and fun people and a lot of "craic"? ;)

Here are the locations that have stood out to us: Glendalough, Cork, Kinsale, Killarney, Kilkenny, Dingle, Kenmore, Limerick, Galway... the list goes on. We want to choose about three places where we can stay two nights in each place and enjoy the surrounding attractions, then move on.

We're not too much into castle ruins -- more into the natural scenery and pub towns, if that helps to narrow it down at all. Thanks in advance!

Dingle is very lively and popular in the period between Christmas and New Year, but you might struggle to find somewhere to stay on 24th, 25th and perhaps 26th

Not many bed and breakfasts are open for Christmas as it is very much a family affair so try to book your accommodation now/

You may have to do a search for hotels that are open in Ireland over Christmas. Don't worry about finding scenary it is everywhere. Kerry is pretty, but don't forget that all along the west coast is very beautiful, you could also do Galway where the craic is brilliant, Galways city itself is a real treat far nicer than Dublin with a nicer vibe to it. Mayo, Sligo and Donegal all have fantastic views, really each county has its own beauty spots. Dublin can be expensive, the other counties tend to have better prices. Stop in small villages there are loads, and the farther you get from the usual tourist spots you get the better it will be for you as an experience.
