Soooooooooo Excited!

In only 2 days... COUNT them 2 I will be taking my first ever trip out of the United States and heading to beautiful Ireland! Can't wait. We will be in County Clare for a full week. So far we have plans to visit Limerick, Ennis, The cliffs of Moher and.... suggestions would be great. We're going to be celebrating our 6th year wedding anniversary. So can you suggest something that would be unique only to Ireland and romantic? Tried getting reservations at Bunratty castle but was to late. I love history, animals and good food, and just being a total tourist.. I will be the hyper annoying one with camera to my face lol. Thanks to everyone for helping out!

Ah yes, I remember our first trip to Ireland, we had a week in County Clare too.

May I suggest you have a day in Galway and buy a Claddagh ring to celebrate the holiday and the anniversary.

Lets hope the weather improves a bit, but I dont think you will let it dampen your spirits!! Enjoy yourselves.

Lovely idea from fuchsia2014

Beyond the Cliffs of Moher lies the Burren :

Consider a hawk walk if you appreciate birds of prey :

If the weather is nice, lots of great walking trails :

Lough Derg in east Clare has lots of pretty villages along its shore; it will be very quiet this time of year - but the scenery is beautiful. Maybe pop into Killaloe for lunch; we really like the Wooden Spoon :

Hope you have a super time!

Have a great time Kayla and Happy Anniversary, your excitement jumps out of your post and I am sure you are going to have an absolute ball!

I love the suggestion about getting a Claddagh ring, that is absolutely unique to Ireland and will serve as a wonderful reminder of your anniversary trip.

Make sure you visit the Burren and allow time to stop and have lunch in The Burren Perfumery, I think its a very romantic place, you can also pick up some unique scents based on the local environment.

Hi Kayla. Happy Anniversary. Hope you have a great time in Ireland.

You have already gotten some very good suggestions. Be sure and spend some time around the Burren when you visit the Cliffs of Moher.(Sarnia has given you the links). Hopefully the weather will improve for your visit.

Where in County Clare are you staying?

Early Welcome to East Clare & down in Bodyke.. weather has been a bit chilly to start with and a bit damp but the next few days into the weekend are promised better. Goosers would get my vote for food in Killaloe (sorry SG) but there are lots of options Like the Half Barrel in Whitegate great for well priced pub grub.

If you're staying in Bodyke, you might like to enjoy some traditional music in 1 of the east Clare pubs :

This is a lovely area of Clare : beautiful rural landscape, and off the beaten trail.

Tony:

Friends enjoy Goosers; we 've only stopped for coffee so far, so I was unable to personally recommend the food! I have a particularly sweet tooth, and can never resist the cakes In Wooden Spoon ;-)

You're not far from Ennis, which is a lovely town to wander around :

If you want to grow a bit of Ireland back home call for a look into http://www.irishseedsavers.ie/ might not be at its Blooming best at the moment but gives you the opportunity to pick up some truly unique souvenirs?

SG there is a little cake shop at the side of O'Riains bar you might like to try next time?
