Planning a trip

My husband and I are planning a trip to Europe this May (2014). We want to fly in and out of London and spend 3 or 4 days there, take the train to Paris for 3 days, and maybe fly to Rome for 3 days. The rest of our time, 10 to 14 days (undecided yet) we will spend in Ireland. We are trying to decide between an escorted tour and an independent trip. Is there a tour company anyone would recommend for Ireland? We would prefer to spend 2-3 nights each in Dublin, Killarney, and somewhere on the West Coast so we can see Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. On most of the posts I have read on here people rented cars and drove themselves. We are concerned about driving on the narrow roads on the opposite side of the road but would consider it. Would it be possible to stay at these places and take day tours from each location? Are there trains to each location if we chose to do that? Sorry to have so many questions but this will be our first trip to Europe so it is all new for us. We are each almost 60 and recently retired. Thanks for any advice.

If I ever need to do an escorted tour in Ireland it will be with this company: www.wolfhoundtours.com

Wny? It is a small independent company, It gets great reviews. I like the company ethos. It seems like great fun. The tour itineraries are excellent. Smaller bus will be able get to more off the track locations. They bring bikes !!!
