Cliffs of Moher

It looks like Cliffs of Moher visitors center is closed in 2006 and will not re-open until 2007. Can we still go to the Cliffs of Moher?

Where do you recommend staying when going out to Cliffs of Moher? is there lodging or do we need to drive back to another town?

Cliffs are still open!!! Sounds like the TV program Fr. Ted.

You could stay in Doolin. Not too far and would be a bit lively with tourists. You could also go to the Aran islands from here.

I second Doolin, as a place to stay for the night. Small place, but very charming. 3 pubs with trad music every night, 3 youth hostels, loads of B&Bs, within a very short distance of the Cliffs. You could actually *walk* from there to the top of the Cliffs, if you would like to. Different perspective. Takes 2 hrs, 2hrs30. You may hitch back to Doolin.

The story is that the tower part is closed off so when you get there you may only walk to the left towrds Hags head. you can no longer walk up to the 19th century OBriens Tower as they are putting in paving etc.. So if Walking from Doolin you will only get near to the tower and miss out on the best (tallest) parts...

Just returned from Ireland last night. We visited the Cliffs of Moher...drove there from our lodging in Ballyvaughan. There is still a visitor's center, even though they are building a new one. The visitor's center, along with the toilets, closed around 8:00 pm on the day we visited this July 2006. It's true you have to walk up the hill and then to the left from the visitor's center. We took about an hour and a half up there, walking as far as we could...it's breath-taking if you walk far enough.
