Wexford, Wicklow area

have most of my trip planned but I have 2 days and wanted advice on place to go & stay.

We are spending 2 nights Ennis, 2 nights Westport, 1 Galway, 3 night Kinsale, 2 free nights before spending 3 night in Dublin. Any recommendations would be great, nothing romantic we are 3 single ladies. Love charming towns, historic landmarks and nature.

Wexford town might suit. It is close to the Slobs wildfowl refuge. The National Heritage park is very much below the tourist radar, but well worth the visit. The Hook head area, with the oldest working lighthouse in Europe , the beautiful Tintern abbey ruins and walks and the spooky Loftus hall are all worth a look.

The JK homestead might appeal and there is the lovely arboretum in his honour too, The replica famine ship, the Dunbrody would be on my "must see" list in the area too.

That's only for starters! The1798 revolution was huge in Wexford so if that grabs your interest I can give lots of ideas for that. Likewise places to eat.

http://www.auburnterrace.com/ has a great location, right in the town, but I've never stayed there .We always stay in the Ferrycarrig Hotel when in the area. For food there are lots of options. T he early bird at "Cistin Eile" is worth a look. The Talbot hotel does reasonable food during the day (entrance fro the main street side)

The Ferrycarrig does good bar food too, but it's a little outside of the town lots of parking and great views over the water. The Centenary Stores in the centre of town is good enough for bar food and usually has music.

I'll check out the B& B thanks for the suggestions

I see you are from the Dingle Area. My friends told me to spend more time on Dingle Peninsula than the Ring of Kerry, what do you think? any suggestion for lunch or dinner in Dingle area.

I'm not from Dingle, but spend as much time as I an there. For lunch in Dingle town, I'd choose somewhere near the pier in the town. (Handy parking!)Out of the Blue if fish is your thing, Dingle Bay hotel for bar food and if the day is night the little café "Fish" on the Marina. if you have parked up, then the Goat street café is lovely.

If you are doing the Slea Head drive, Tigh Aine is hard to beat for location and views.

Dinner in the town, lots of places do early birds. I like Fentons but you could also try the Global Village. (Go to Currans pub or Foxy John's pub after)

Don't neglect to visit Murphy's Ice-cream!

The Slea head trip is shorter than the ROK and doesn't get the same volume of traffic or big buses.

There's a bit of info on places I'd suggest here.

Dúnbeg fort is currently closed ,since the winter storms though.

Hi! I was just wondering when you were visiting Dingle and Killarney? Are you day tripping from Kinsale? If you want to see Kerry you might want to take a few nights to stay in Killarney....

We were going to stay in Galway 1 night and drive to Dingle then on to Kinsale. I know it will be a lot of driving when we do the Dingle loop. Friends that were in Ireland last June said they enjoyed Dingle more than Kerry. I think we will pass on ROK but will have time if we change our minds.
