Where (besides Dublin) should we visit?

Hello all!

We just got back from a vacation that included a visit to my husband's mum in beautiful North Wales. (She moved there from Kent England a few years ago)

Next time we visit, I was thinking of Ireland as a place to spend a few days after we see her.

About 7 years ago we did an overnight in Dublin as part of our last (whirlwind) trip, and would like to see another part of the country.

Yes, I will be browsing guide book, and looking things up online, but like I always do, I start every new adventure bugging the folks on the tripadvisor forums. :-)

Aside from loving Irish music, (we had an Irish trio play at our wedding, even learned a little dancing) we'd be looking for beautiful scenery, a place to rent some bikes and relax. Also love local artistry, but not into any serious shopping. And if we get rained out, a place that's cozy. :-)

Anyway, I would love some ideas of your fave areas, etc. Especially if we could take a ferry over from north Wales.

Thanks in advance!
