I am planning a trip to Ireland for family of 4 from Miami (Me, DH, DS 21, DD 18). DD picked the trip as part of her graduation present and wants to spend at last 5 of the 10 days in and around Dublin. She and DS are more "urban" vacationers. DH and I are "nature/active" vacationers. So here's the rough plan and some questions.
Day 1 Arrive Shannon 9AM - get car and go to Doolin. I have booked rooms at Twin Peaks but can cancel. Look at Cliffs, early dinner and crash.
Day 2 - Dromoland Castle. Stayed here 18 years ago and want to repeat the picture of DH/DS/ducks. Given the price, we will mostly be enjoying what the Castle has to offer.
Day 3 - 5 - Here's where I really need the help. Of all the things I've been reading about, Killarney and hiking the Gap of Duloe sounds most appealing for one day. But I would be interested in other hikes or outdoor activities. We don't want to spend hours driving. We will want to make a stop in Cork as that is where DH family was from. Castles, ruins, etc. also fun for us.
Day 6 - 10 - Dublin -
Day 11 - Back to real life.
Thanks in advance!
