Dublin to Kenmare travel time?

Hey guys, Im going to Ireland near the end of July. I'll be in Dublin for the first couple days, then we are renting a car and our first stop is Kenmare. Any idea on how long I should plan for? I am positive we will stop and soak in the sights we see on the way, I see that its like 340 KM, which is 200 miles, which here would take about 4 hours. I know it will be longer than that. So just curious! Thanks for any help!

With no stops, 4h 30min is reasonable.

The first 260km are on highway standard roads.

Traffic could potentially cause you issues. The biggest challenges are likely to be leaving Dublin and coming around Cork City. If you can avoid the periods between 7:30am and 9:30am and 4pm and 6:30pm for both of these, it's unlikely to be a problem.

If your driving down past Limerick City M 7 onto M20

follow signs for Tralee N21 then once your through Adare

Killarney N22/ N23 is posted

The fastest, safest route to Kenmare is via the N22 for Macroom / Cork city

turn off at the R569

Use Google MAPS to see the route.

P.S.

N23 is the Castleisland bypass you need to take for Killarney

I recommend you stop at the Kerry airport in Farranfore for the washroom ( on route)

as they allow free parking up to 30 minutes.

the journey time from Adare Co, Limerick is about two hours

enjoy.

The route via Limerick is marginally shorter in distance, but takes a bit longer because there's less highway on the route.

Your best bet is to see what is near the two routes and where you might want to stop on the way and plan from there.

one Texan to another, i'd say it's 5 hours of just driving....locals a little quicker...however stopping along the way will make it not so exhausting....
