Trip itinerary question

So I am going to be going to Ireland for about a week. I will leave Hungary Aug 18 and I still can't decide if I should fly to London then take the trail/ferry or fly directly to Dublin. And I will be leaving out of Shannon Aug 25 at 11 am. So a little about me I'm a 25 year old woman who will be traveling alone, I have done a fair amount of traveling in Europe and South America. I want to keep it cheep, see some scenery, maybe a play and just relax. I plan on staying hostel style and spending a couple days in Dublin then ending in Limerick or somewhere close to Shannon. And I want to see the ocean, where would be a good place?

Please help…. Any suggestion will be welcome. I don't know why this trip seems so much more daunting to plan than my normal ones.

If you want to come to Ireland then fly into Dublin, no point flying to London then adding a tedious day on the train and ferry. Anywhere on the West Coast will give you a great view of the ocean. But how are you getting around, will you have a car?

No I have never driven out of the states and the thought of driving on the opposite side scares me. I plan on trains/buses. So I would appreciated which other 1-2 cities to go see or any better why to get around and see scenery.

Fly into Dublin and get the train to Galway. Lots of ocean on the west coast.

I agree with fuchsia's suggestion flying direct to Dublin, then travelling onwards to Galway; you can travel between Dublin and Galway by train or bus.

If funds permit, consider a day -trip to the Aran Islands :

You could consider taking the bus down to west Clare; thinking Doolin or Lahinch for a night for more coastal views and beautiful beach at Lahinch:

Then you could end your stay in Ennis, county town of Clare; only 15-minute journey to Shannon airport:

So I also am wondering any good pretty church's that people would suggest that are in Ennis or Limerick. My last full day is Sunday and I love going to church in what ever country I'm in. I really don't care catholic or protestant, at least not for one week ;)
