There is no easy way to get from the airport to the ferryport via public transport. How many is "us"? If it's two or more and with luggage then just get a taxi outside the airport terminal.

Edinburgh, but I want to sailtrain 2 bags 2 people. what would a taxi cost? also we may overnight in Dublin.

Yes we could fly direct to the UK but you waste a lot less time in Dublin than Hellrow in London

It doesn't make a lot of sense to go overland from Dublin to Edinburgh, you're looking at a 13 or 14 hour journey. To fly between the two cities takes an hour. Can you not add on a connecting flight to Edinburgh to your current ticket?

To add to what scampibear has said, try to book BOS-DUB-EDI on one ticket (I am assuming you are flying from Boston). I expect it would be cheaper overall than two separate tickets.

Also, if you are on one ticket, you can connect airside at DUB, and your checked bags will be transferred for you.

I knew that, but sometimes things retired tourists do doesn't make sense. I wont see too much of North Wales and northern England from the air apart from that a Sailrail ticket from Dublin to Edinburgh or London is under 50 euros. I am the kind of traveller who takes 12 day CIE tours and has a great time. I used Aircoach last December but they dont list the Ferry port as a stop Is there something else that caters to tourists with Luggage?
