Pubs and restaurants in Ballyvaughan

We are currently planning our holiday to Ballyvaughan in mid September and would be really interested in hearing more about the pubs and restaurants in the village. Are there any particular recommendations that you have about good food, music or just the general feel of the pubs or restaurants in the area? I look forward to hearing from you.

Logues Pub on the main st opposite the Spar shop do good food and relatives of mine have eaten there a few times and recommend. Now I have had had some titbits with a drink and found them to be rather expensive for what I got!

Monks Pub is an institution at this stage mainly for it's beautiful location overlooking Ballyvaughan Harbour and Galway Bay. Personally I am not a big fan of the pub since the Monks family sold it. It has just become another business racking in the cash and has lost it's charm of being a family run pub but they used to do wonderful chowder. I'm pretty sure you will still get some good food here!

Connolly's pub in Kinvara often has excellent trad sessions ans sing/song evenings. If you click on their music guide it will give you the dates and I actually have just spottted that Noel Hill's nephew Jack Talty is playing there on the 19th of September. Noel Hill is an extremely brilliant concertina player from Clare so I'm sure it runs in the family :-) I would recommend you pop in if you are around on this date.

Doolin is a good place also to hear some traditional music and most of the pubs do meals.

You will probably get better recommendations from people who have visited the area and the pubs recently.

You will also love the old fashioned O'loughlins Whiskey Bar "O'Lochlainns" between Monks and Hylands.

sadly the old owner has died but his son still runs the place!
