seaside family holiday

Hi all.

I'm looking to bring family of 5 with kids (age 8,5,1) for a week somewhere in Kerry, west Cork or Clare in early july. Will take a holiday house/ cottage. Location within 5 - 10 mins drive (max) of pretty beach(es), and 30 mins drive of bigger town with amenities, but do not want to stay in big town. I'm looking for suggestions of very nice beach areas within these three counties please. Thanks in advance.

Fanore beach still has its 'blue flag' status...have a look at fanorecottages.com and imagine ireland.Ballyvaughan is only 20 minutes away and Ennistymon would take 30 minutes.Aloha surf school is based in Fanore and Mountainview stables are in Lisdoonvarna...10 miles drive.Local shop, fishing tackle store, restaurant and pub all in the centre of Fanore

As above, Fanore is a great beach and regular spot with the Grandkids but there are other options down the Clare coast. If you are looking for the near future then availability might be the limiting factor.

Check out Sandycove Beach Villas in Rosscarbery http://www.sandycovebeach.com West Cork

Located across the road from the beach , 3km from Rosscarbery Village . Gives an option as a touring base or just to chill out & spent the day at Owenahincha or the Warren beach

Ventry or Wine Strand, beyond Dingle. Ventry is blue flag and miles long. Wine Strand is smaller, no flag, but spotless too.

Spanish Point or Lahinch in County Clare both have lovely beaches and are only half an hour from Ennis, which would have all the extra ameneties you could need.

Lahinch has the added advantage of the waterworld for rainy days and also has quite a few surf schools for kids.

Spanish Point would be much quieter, though, and is only a few minutes from Miltown Malbay, which has a few restaurants and a very good selection of grocery shops for supplies.

Thanks everyone for some great suggestions. We have previously spent time in Lahinch, so we have settled on Ventry, near Dingle this time, as it ticks many of the boxes...

Thanks again
