Scenic Route and west coast

Hello,

We are in Ireland for the first time on Friday. We are hiring a car from Dublin airport on Saturday 5pm. Our plan is to stay the night in Ennis, visit Cliffs of Moher Sunday Morning and visit Dingle to be back in Kerry for 5pm Sunday.

When driving between Limerick and dingle on Sunday afternoon, is it worth driving by the coast via Glin and Askeaton? More scenic?

Also, is dingle worth going to? Or is there something else more worthwhile doing on Sunday afternoon?

Thanks

Paul

Saturday 5pm collect a car and drive to Ennis (love the town, but Why?)

Sunday drive 1 hour north west to Moher stay an hour then drive 3 hours to Dingle 1 1/2 hours mad dash round Slea Head and 1 1/2 hours from there to Kerry Airport

Assuming you dont eat or ^**^ leaving your B&B at 8 am makes Sunday possible

Have you read Round Ireland with a Fridge? Its amazing the things folk do for a bet..

sorry, this is just not possible in the time scale, even without toilet or meal breaks it would be a mad dash, is it some sort of rally challenge?

tony - thanks. We chose Ennis as quite near to cliffs of moher and found a cheap place there so seemed a good place to stop after drive from Dublin.

Fuchsia thanks for your reply - I do love rallys! But no, not the aim.

Cliffs of Moher are the most important thing for that day.

If we leave Ennis 9 am, get to cliffs by 10am. Leave at 11am. Pop by bunratty caslte at midday. Eat around here. Get to Dingle around 3pm. Leave 3:45pm for farranfore.

Yes, maybe a bit of a hectic day. Anything better to do than dingle? Something non-city like, we would prefer.

Thanks for your help.

Even I dont think it is worth driving down to Dingle for 45 minutes in the town.

Anything better to do than dingle... I could be ostracized for an honest answer to that one.. and often am.

Clare is a lot more than 1/2 mile of Cliff, Loop Head in South Clare is well worth a look http://www.loophead.ie/ ticks all your scenic boxes, take the ferry over and call into Listowel before dropping to Kerry airport.

Might be best to fly in out Shannon for this area of the west or Kerry itself, but make it a long weekend or a month, there's a lot to see.

Fuchsia - could probably make it almost two hours if we leave Ennis 8am and speed up a little. But true, maybe not worth it...

Perhaps weather will be a factor.

How regular and how much is the kilrush ferry? Is Galway worthy instead? I know it's a little city like though...

Thanks

Galway is the wrong direction.. Landing in DUB, Galway might be a better start than Ennis,, straight across in 2 1/2 hours and then drop down from there.. won't save time but will save mileage. Galway is hardly a city in UK terms,
