One day drive from Dingle to Cork- how much can we see?

Hello all,

In mid-April my daughter and I are traveling around Ireland. On our drive from Dingle to Cork, we are wondering how much we can fit into one day. We plan to get an early start. Can we stop at Muckross House for a tour and still have time to wander around Blarney Castle for an hour? Or is that packing too much in one day? We are only staying one night in Cork, then heading to Kilkenny for a couple days. Thanks so much!

Your overall drive, without going off on any side roads is around 2h 30 mins.

On that basis, it really depends on two factors - how early you set off and how long you spend at each stop.

Assuming 2 hours at each of Muckross and Blarney, you should still have plenty of time if you set off early enough.

If you're travelling from Muckross to Cork, it's worth following signs for Lough Guitane (sign-posted as you head back in towards Killarney) as this will allow you to skip around the bad traffic that can build up in central Killarney. Follow the road past the lake and it will join the main Killarney-Cork road where you turn right towards Cork.
