Driscoll Clan gathering the last weeeknd of June, 2007

Planning to stay 2 days in Cork for the party with my husband and 2 college age sons. Where do we stay, near the action?

Yes, it's held in Baltimore. So far I've been looking at www.caseysofbaltimore.com Do you know anything about it?

Have a look at the Baltimore Harbour Hotel. www.bhrhotel.ie You might be interested in this place as it has a leisure centre/swimming pool which would be nice for you all to unwind in after the festivities. As this gathering happens smack bang in the middle of the Irish tourist season, I imagine you would want to be booking accommodation about now as Baltimore is a very small village and does not have a lot of accommodation within the village itself.

The hotel I mentioned is a nice hotel only 3 minutes walk to Baltimore village.

I don't know about the place you have mentioned.

You may want to try the West Cork Hotel in Skibereen, about 15 minutes from Baltimore.

I'd stay in Casey's faster than the Harbour hotel. Although Caseys doesn't have a leisure facility, the standard of the hotel is much better. I found the rooms at the Baltimore harbour hotel to be dirty and the food awful to be quite honest. Also worth considering are the B&Bs in the village square which are nice and more reasonable than a hotel would be. A couple of the B&Bs are Bushes (www.bushesbar.com) or the Captains table which was a restaurant but also has guest rooms(+353-28-20143). Both are right in the square so it will be quite noisy at night while the bars are still serving. Just something to bear in mind.

TC - you fascinate me.

You only have two short posts, yet you are registered since March 2005. BOTH of your posts are dissing the Baltimore Hotel.

Me thinks you have an agenda.

BeanA,

Meant to tell you that I have been racking my brains trying to write a Limerick in honour of you, unfortunately the only words I can think of that easiy rhyme with Wunder are Plunder, Asunder, Thunder, so I don't think it's gonna happen.

I'm thinking it could start with the words:

"There was a tricky dicky named Wunder"

I'll keep you posted.
