I know the geography of the area but cannot make any recommendations as I have never stayed there, but I will try and help as far as I can.

This is a remote part of Donegal with a lot of small villages so choice is inevitably a bit restricted.

The following links (the first of which is from the Irish Tourist Board's official website) give property details for all of Ireland. Once in these, choose the location as Donegal County to get a list of accomodation choices.

As far as I can see the Viking House Hotel, which is listed on one of the sites, will be very close, maybe less than a mile from the golf club. However I have no idea what it is like. Properties listed in Dungloe, will be 6/7 miles away. Properties listed in Bunbeg/Derrybeg will be 10/12 miles away respectively.

There is a hotel called Arnolds in Dunfanaghy, about 20 miles away, also. I know that this has a very scenic location and would expect it to be of a fairly high standard but cannot be sure.

Hope this will be of some help.

Catherine McGlynn who occasionally posts on this forum runs the site and if necessary you could e-mail Catherine at the site. It is a lovely site.

Take Care.

What kind of accomodation are you looking for? Hotel? B&B? Self-catering?

There is a small group of self-catering cottages right on Cruit:

Someone already mentioned Viking House, I've never stayed there but have eaten dinner there several times and it was very good. The only other hotels would be in Bunbeg and Dungloe, Ostan Gweedore and Ostan Na Rosssan. Again I've stayed at neither but been to events at both and they look okay, both are in beautiful settings near the sea.

If you're looking for B&B the area is full of them and I can post a couple of places if you're interested.

Thanks for the help. We are open to any type if they are clean and friendly. I saw the thatched roof cottages the last time we passed through there, and the location is awsome. I thought they were rented by the week only and we will only be in that area a couple of days.
