4 days in Co. Donegal. What to see?

We wil be staying in Co. Donegal (Ardara area) at the end of May. We love nature, music and history. Any recommendations?

Glenveagh National Park - absolutely beautiful/stunning surrounds: http://www.glenveaghnationalpark.ie/ (the pictures don't do it justice)!

Slieve League, again breathtaking: http://slieveleaguecliffs.ie/ . We also loved strolling around Donegal town.

Nature: Slieve League and Glenveagh as noted by akandal plus the many beaches along the coast, the bays on the north coast (Sheep Haven, Mulroy and Lough Swilly), the area south of Errigal Mountain (Dunlewy and the Poisoned Glen) and the Glengesh Pass west of Ardara.

Music: Pubs in Ardara and in the area around Gweedore and Bunbeg, to the north of Ardara, including Jacks in Annagary and Hudai Beags in Bunbeg.

History: Donegal Castle (in Donegal Town), Doe Castle near Creeslough, Colmcille Heritage Centre (just south of Glenveagh), Rathmullan/ Ramelton and Grianan of Aileach between Letterkenny and Derry.

Great suggestions from the guys above -

We stayed in Ardara last summer and one of my favourite trips was to the nearby Doon Fort - accessed by a rowing boat (you row your own) from a nearby Farmhouse. A lovely peaceful way to spend an hour on a nice spring/summer day.

There are several places across the border into Northern Ireland well worth visiting including the Ulster/American Folk Park near Omagh, Enniskillen castle/museum, boat trips to monastic Devenish Island, Belleek Pottery & Marble Arch Caves: www.fermanaghlakelands.com

Although it some distance from Ardara the www.doaghfaminevillage.com on the northern part of the Inishowen penninsula is certainly worth a visit as is the city of Derry itself.

Just to add Maghera Beach, outside of Ardara. As you head south out of town, you'll see a signposted turnoff, to the right. The beach is about 5 miles down the road - a huge, stunningly gorgeous beach. There are caves which you can explore, if the tides are favorable.

From Ardara, you can drive up the Glengesh pass, and visit Glencolumcille, which has an interesting folk village:

Across the road from the folk village, is the town's beach, which is lovely.
