Which hotel

Hi, I am sending my mum to dublin for her 60th and am stuck between two hotels.

I have booked both the merrion and the shelbourne for the weekend with dinner on the sat in both. Which is better for both dinner and rooms. I am looking for a real luxury weekend.

I just dont know. On here they are quite close in ratings, but on the phone the merrion staff seem nicer.

Please help any feedback will be very appreciated. Thanks.

Both are wonderful and your mum would have a great and very luxurious stay in either. In my opinion the Merrion would just pip the Shelbourne to the post in terms of service and attention to detail, but there's not all that much between the 2...restaurant in the Merrion (Guilbauds) is far better than the Shelbourne's.

A third plum for the Merrion.

Your mum is a lucky lady being treated. There is an old style charm in both, but for me the merrion would win.

You say you have booked both hotels already? Did you have to give a deposit?
